Where can you sit outside in Bremen, right on the water?
On the Schlachte, number 30A: beer garden tables on the promenade, draught beer, fish from the pan – and the river Weser two metres away.
The beer garden at Kangaroo Island sits directly on the Schlachte promenade, Schlachte 30A, in the middle of Bremen’s city centre: long tables on the riverbank, draught beer in 0.5-litre glasses, cocktails, plus the full menu with Pannfisch, plaice and burgers. Open in good weather Mon–Fri from 2 pm, Sat/Sun from 12 pm. Menu in English.
The Schlachte is Bremen’s living room on the water
If you want to sit outside in Bremen, you go to the Schlachte: the riverside promenade between the old town and the Weser, one long terrace in summer. Kangaroo Island has been part of it since 1999 – with an outdoor area that turns into a beer garden when the sun is out: long wooden tables, cold beer, a view of boats, excursion ships and, in the evening, the sunset over the river.
Drinks come in big glasses: Kräusen, Bud and Kangaroo Pils on draught, 0.5 litres each, plus the beer garden cocktails – Caipirinha, Mojito, Cuba Libre, Sex on the Beach, Long Island Iced Tea. If you prefer wine: the Vinho Verde is our terrace pick, perfect with fish.
And you eat outside exactly as you would inside: the full fish menu with Bremen Pannfisch and plaice “Finkenwerder style”, fish & chips for 9,90 €, burgers from the grill, currywurst, salads. No special beer garden programme of pretzels and white sausage – just what people come to the Schlachte for.
If the weather turns, the evening does not: two floors wait inside, and from 10 pm the happy hour at the bar.

Questions about the beer garden
Where exactly is the beer garden?
Right on the Schlachte promenade, Schlachte 30A – only the riverside path lies between the venue and the Weser. It is about a five-minute walk from the market square, and the Am Brill tram stop is around the corner.
What is there to drink in the beer garden?
Draught beer – Kräusen, Anheuser-Busch Bud and our own Kangaroo Pils in a 0.5-litre glass – plus cocktails such as Caipirinha, Mojito, Cuba Libre, Sex on the Beach and Long Island Iced Tea. The beer garden menu has its own prices; everything else comes from the regular drinks menu.
Can I eat outside too?
Yes, the full menu is served outdoors: Bremen Pannfisch, plaice, fish & chips, burgers from the grill, currywurst, salads. Hot food Mon–Thu 2–10 pm, Fri/Sat 12 pm–midnight, Sun 12–9 pm.
Can I reserve a table outside?
Book via the form on our home page or call +49 421 1689595 and mention “terrace” – we do our best. Outdoor seating depends on the weather; if it rains we move inside to our two floors.
When is the beer garden open?
In good weather during our opening hours: Mon–Fri from 2 pm, Sat and Sun from 12 pm. Whether the terrace is open right now, we can tell you on the phone.
Is it suitable for groups?
Yes, there are long tables outside – for after-work rounds, birthdays or teams. For 10 people or more, please let us know in advance so we can keep an area free.
