Kangaroo Island started in 1999 as a bar – Australian-inspired, in a former double garage on the Schlachte. The garage became a two-floor venue with a terrace, the bar became a restaurant. But once the kitchen closes, Kangaroo Island is what it always was: a cocktail bar right on the river.

The list is broad without being random: classics like Caipirinha, Moscow Mule, Whiskey Sour and Pornstar Martini. Fancy & Caribbean with Sex on the Beach, Tequila Sunrise, the house Flying Kangaroo and Long Island Iced Tea. Four mojito variations from classic to mango. And if you are not drinking, you get eight proper alcohol-free cocktails for 8 € – not juice with an umbrella. Everything also jumbo size, plus 3 €.

The price is best after 10 pm: that is when the happy hour with 30 % off all cocktails starts – every night, not just on weekdays. And with the Happy Days every weekday has its own cocktail at a special price: Caipirinha on Monday, Mojito on Wednesday, Long Island on Friday.

Inside you sit on two floors between dark wood and neon, outside on the terrace on the Schlachte – with the sunset over the Weser before the promenade lights come on.
